White Settlement's Liberty Elementary School is open as usual today despite a fire on Tuesday that sent Principal Michael Dickinson to the hospital.
District officials say an unidentified student intentionally started a fire in a restroom, leading to an evacuation of the building and early dismissal.
But Dickinson quickly grabbed a fire extinguisher and doused the growing flames even before firefighters arrived. Reports say he was treated on-scene for smoke inhalation and was then rushed to the hospital. But he was released last night, under doctors orders to take a few days off.
There was smoke in the building, but workers got in and took care of that so classes can be held today.
There has been no word on what charges the student may be facing.
