Wildlife experts say there was at least one egg was in the nest when it fell. What remains of the nest is now in possession of the state game warden, according to NBCDFW.com.

Dallas Parks and Recreation along with state wildlife officials had put up signs around the area of the nest, located just off Loop 12 / Buckner Blvd, warning visitors of the Federally protected and sensitive bird nesting area. The surrounding park was also closed and people were asked to keep their distance to keep from disturbing the birds.

For weeks, people came from all over the metroplex to get a glimpse of the eagles that showed up sometime in October. Some local residents who kept an eye on the pair named them "Nick and Nora."

“This nest always presented us with a challenge. It wasn’t the best location for a nest,” said BrettJohnson with Dallas Park and Recreation to NBCDFW.com. “We’ve got a number of dead trees that we were already looking at that we’ve had to hold off maintenance on. We’re going to hold off and see what they decide to do, but obviously, the eagles are going to be the ones to tell us whether they decide to move on or re-nest in this area.”
