Wintry weather impacting vaccine distribution across North Texas

County Health Departments across North Texas say they're keeping an eye on the wintry weather because it could end up impacting vaccine distribution.

Dallas County already had to roll back its plans to transition Fair Park into a drive-thru clinic today because of the weather. For now, people are being vaccinated inside, and officials say they'll release further details on when the drive-thru clinic will reopen at a later time.

The City of Garland said today's vaccination site will continue as planned with 1,000 doses to be administered. The site will not open later this week because its entire allotment of vaccine is being administered today.

Officials in Denton County are out today vaccinating people at Texas Motor Speedway, but they say the rest of the week is still uncertain.

"It's not the cold that will stop us or hinder us," says Jennifer Rainey, with Denton County. "It''s making sure that nobody's driving on ice."

Appointments for Thursday and Friday have not been sent out yet.

"We're monitoring the weather," Rainey says. "We hope to have a decision by the end of the day."

On the other hand, Tarrant County Public Health says vaccine clinics will be held on their normal schedule, despite the weather.
