While most school children return to class today, ending the Labor Day holiday weekend, all campuses are closed in the Hunt County town of Wolfe City, about an hour northeast of Dallas.
The Wolfe City district has announced schools will not reopen until September 13th because of high COVID-19 numbers.
As of Friday, 22 students were down with COVID-19 along with eight staffers. In addition to classes, the district says all extracurricular activities, practices, games, and facility usages will be cancelled until we resume normal operations on September 13th.
Other districts around North Texas have closed individual schools. For example, Richardson school administrators say Brentfield Elementary had 24 active COVID-19 cases last week, forcing that campus to be remain closed until September 13th.
