FIFA is releasing new numbers showing the number of records broken since the World Cup began last week.

More than 54 million people turned in across the United States, Mexico, and Canada for the opening.

The first U.S. match Friday night is now the most-watched soccer game ever broadcast in the United States.

27.5-million people watched across Fox and Telemundo.

Also, several international records were busted across English and Spanish-language television.

Over 23-million people watched Mexico's opening victory which is a record for a World Cup match in that country.

FIFA's president said the numbers show just how much the World Cup already means to those living in the host countries.
