In Collin County, a convicted child abuser is going to prison for decades.

Collin County District Attorney Greg Willis says 59-year-old Juan Barrera of Wylie was convicted of continuous sexual abuse of a child after a jury found him guilty.

Prosecutors say Barrera actually abused two children, starting when the victims were between 7 and 8-years-old.

One of the victims eventually told a relative who then notified the police. That's when the other child spoke up.

Police say they got a confession from Barrera and found DNA evidence. He claimed he was suffering from erectile dysfunction and was trying to “feel something.”

He was sentenced to 82 years in prison.

“This predator not only abused one child, but two. He’ll now have the rest of his life in prison to ponder the pathetic and selfish excuses he made for himself,” said Willis after sentencing.
