The Garland man arrested for shooting a Lancaster football coach after a youth football game last month has been indicted for murder.
The shooting on the football field August 15th left the area in chaos. Mike Hickmon, a long-time respected coach, was gunned down after an argument over a call at the end of the children's football game.
On Thursday a Dallas County grand jury indicted 39-year old Yaqub Talib for murder. He's the brother of former NFL star Aquib Talib, who was also at the scene.
Jail records show Talib is out of jail after he posted a $1 million bond, much to the aggravation of Kenyetta Hickmon, the wife of the victim who doesn't want Talib on the streets.
While Talib is under indictment for felony murder, a charge which carries the possibility of life with parole, Mrs Hickmon was hoping for a capital murder charge, which carries either the death penalty or life without parole.
“He should never get out. He should get execution. That’s what I feel,” said Kenyetta Hickmon. “He has taken, not only my husband, but he’s taken him away from my kids. He’s destroyed other little kids. He should never be out.”
