While speculation over Vice President Kamala Harris’ choice for a running mate in the upcoming election is running rampant, Newsweek has turned to a more “credible” source to find a potential answer: ChatGPT.
The news agency asked the generative AI tool to “identify which Democrat would be best to run alongside Harris as her vice president.” In response, ChatGPT narrowed the field down to four candidates: Transport Secretary Pete Buttigieg, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, former Georgia state Representative Stacey Abrams and New Jersey Senator Cory Booker.
Ultimately, however, the artificial intelligence tool went with Whitmer, saying, “Her executive experience as a governor, particularly in a critical swing state, and her effective crisis management during the pandemic, make her a compelling choice." It goes on to say Whitmer’s appeal to voters in the Midwest could “be pivotal in securing key battleground states that are crucial for a Democratic victory.”
