The City of Dallas was hit with a ransomware attack on Wednesday morning.
As of 10 a.m. Thursday morning, DPD and DFR residents are unaffected. 911 calls continue to be received and dispatched and Saturday's election is unaffected.
Courts are closed and the live chat is inaccessible. All cases will be reset and jurors do not need to report for service. Dallas Public Library branches are open and while in-person checkout continue, online materials are currently unavailable.
City Manager T.C. Broadnax said in a statement, 'Since City of Dallas’ Information and Technology Services detected a cyber threat Wednesday morning, employees have been hard at work to contain the issue and ensure continued service to our residents. While the source of the outage is still under investigation, I am optimistic that the risk is contained. For those departments affected, emergency plans prepared and practiced in advance are paying off. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank residents for their understanding as we continue to work around the clock until this issue is addressed.'
Dallas officials say the group 'Royal' is behind the attack.
The group is on the radar of the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency. It says actors with Royal most commonly gain access to servers through phishing emails.
