People who have dropped subscriptions to traditional television services may not be able to watch the Texas Rangers when they open their season Thursday in Kansas City. Many streaming services do not have an agreement to carry the rebranded "Bally Sports."
In 2019, Fox Sports Southwest was sold to Sinclair Broadcast Group, along with 20 other regional sports networks across the country, for almost $10 billion.
All Rangers games can be heard on 105.3 The Fan and on Audacy.
Streaming services, including Fubo TV, Hulu, Sling TV and YouTube TV have dropped Fox Sports Southwest, rebranded "Bally Sports" this week after an agreement with the casino operator, over the past year. The Dallas Mavericks and Dallas Stars' seasons had already been unavailable on the services.
The streaming services say Sinclair was charging too much to air games for viewership that was too low.
Texas Rangers', Dallas Mavericks' and Dallas Stars' games are still available on traditional services, including Spectrum and DirecTV. DISH Network stopped carrying Fox Sports Southwest/Bally Sports last year.
Texas Rangers fans can also subscribe to MLB TV, but the league's service only provides away games.
Bally Sports is still available on AT&T TV.
Bally Sports is urging fans to check getmyhometeams.com for information about which services still carry the network.
