CVS Health has administered the first round of COVID-19 doses to nearly 8,000 skilled nursing facilities nationwide, including 581 in Texas.

In total, the company is partnering with about 2,000 long-term care facilities across the state in order to administer the vaccine.

The next step is to continue administering the first round of vaccines to Category 2 long-term care and assisted living facilities, the company says. The process is expected to be complete mid-February.
CVS Health says the vaccination effort is on track. To-date, the company has administered nearly 2 million shots.
Through a federal partnership, CVS Health plans to eventually offer COVID-19 vaccines at CVS Pharmacy locations across the country.
