At the beginning of the pandemic, the experts told us to socially distance at 6 feet to avoid getting infected with COVID. Turns out 6 feet might not be enough.
Researchers at Penn State say the 6 foot rule is just a general recommendation. It's not a long enough distance to stop the spread of airborne droplets, especially when you're indoors.
They found that those droplets can spread from one person to another just by talking... and they can cross six feet in less than a minute.
They do say that proper ventilation systems can help prevent that spread.
