People who purchased over-the-counter medications and medical devices at Family Dollar stores from June 1 through last Wednesday should check a list of recalled items released this week by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
This list includes NyQuil products, Bayer products, Aleve products, Tylenol products, Crest toothpaste, Colgate toothpaste, Swan mouthwash and more.
“Family Dollar is initiating a voluntary retail-level product recall,” of the products, said an FDA recall notice.
It said the recall was initiated because the items were stored outside of labeled temperature requirements by Family Dollar. They were then inadvertently shipped to certain stores from around June through September 21. States with stores that received products included in the recall are:
· Alabama
· Arizona
· Arkansas
· California
· Colorado
· Florida
· Georgia
· Idaho
· Kansas
· Louisiana
· Mississippi
· Montana
· North Dakota
· Nebraska
· New Mexico
· Nevada
· Oklahoma
· Oregon
· South Dakota
· Texas
· Utah
· Washington
· Wyoming
As of Oct. 10, Family Dollar had not received any consumer complaints or reports of illness related to the recalled products. Not all of the products listed in the recall were sent to all stores.
“Family Dollar has notified its affected stores asking them to check their stock immediately and to quarantine and discontinue the sale of any affected product,” said the FDA notice.
Those who purchased affected products may return them to the Family Dollar store where they were purchased without receipt. Family Dollar Customer Service is available at 844-636-7687 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. EST to answer questions.
If customers experienced any problems related to using products listed on the recall notice, they should contact their physician. Adverse reactions or quality problems should also be reported to the FDA’s MedWatch Adverse Event Reporting program either online, by regular mail or by fax.
