The fan who fell over the Clemente Wall last week at PNC Park is awake, alert, and able to speak.

Over the weekend, Kavan Markwood's family said the progress he's made is miraculous but he has a long recovery ahead after suffering a fractured skull.

The exact cause of Markwood's fall remains unclear and there has been speculation he may have been intoxicated.

A Pirates spokesperson said Markwood showed no signs of intoxication at the time of the fall and the team believes he drank two beers at the game.

Pittsburgh Police are investigating.
