Michelle Obama is opening up about Donald Trump's Inauguration Day, saying it left her sobbing uncontrollably.

In a preview of her new podcast "Michelle Obama: The Light Podcast," the former first lady said the day was "so emotional for so many different reasons."

"We were leaving the home we had been in for eight years, the only home our kids really knew," the mother of two explained. "They remembered Chicago, but they had spent more time in the White House than anywhere, so we were saying goodbye to the staff and all the people who helped to raise them."

Mrs. Obama also said there was a noticeable lack of diversity at Trump's inaugural ceremony, which brought her to tears.

"To sit on that stage and watch the opposite of what we represented on display — there was no diversity, there was no color on that stage. There was no reflection of the broader sense of America," she said. "When those [Air Force One] doors shut, I cried for 30 minutes straight, uncontrollable sobbing."

"Many people took pictures of me and they're like, 'You weren't in a good mood?' No, I was not," she added. "But you had to hold it together, like you do for eight years. You walk through the Capitol, you wave goodbye, you get on Marine One, and you take your last flight flying over the Capitol."

Obama also took a shot at the size of Trump's inauguration crowd noting, "There weren't many people there."

According to CNN, a government photographer admitted that he intentionally cropped photos of President Trump's inauguration crowd to remove empty space and make the audience look larger, at the president's request. The admission came during a 2017 investigation after the National Park Service shared a social media post comparing the crowds that attended the inaugurations of Trump and former President Barack Obama.
