Tuesday is National Doctors Day, which provides a reminder to honor and thank the medical professionals who work to keep us healthy and well.
Thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic, the past year has been unlike any other for doctors, nurses and so many others working in the industry. Long hours. Unprecedented workloads. The psychological scars of seeing so many suffer with and die from the virus. It has taken its toll in the form of burnout, PTSD and in other unhealthy ways.
A new report from the federal government looks at the strain on healthcare delivery in the U.S. at this point in the pandemic.
KRLD's Chris Sommer discussed the report with Dr. Britt Berrett, director of the Center for Healthcare Leadership and Management at the Jindal School of Management at the University of Texas at Dallas.
