New rising sport 'slap fighting' causes football-like injuries

We always hear of the dangers that football players are in, after their careers are over. So many deal with brain injuries from multiple concussions, like CTE or dementia.

Football isn't the only sport that's dealing with these kinds of problems. The latest sport to have issues is called "Slap Fighting".

That's where two people stand across from each other and slap each in the face with their open hands. It's one of the fastest growing combat sports out there.

Research from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine finds more of the contestants come down with concussion symptoms after a fight. The researchers found that more than half of the slaps caused visible signs of concussions. 80% of the fighters showed at least one sign.
