After being name-dropped in a recent rap feature from conservative commentator Ben Shapiro, Grammy award-winning rapper Nicki Minaj congratulated him on reaching number one on the U.S. iTunes chart.
The song “Facts” was written by Tom MacDonald and had a small feature from Shapiro, who traded in his takes and debates for an attempt at rapping.
“I just listened to it [Shapiro] not bad,” Minaj wrote on X. “Congrats on #1. But it def sounds like Roman’s Revenge when the beat first came in…idk.”
Shapiro later responded to “Queen Nicki” in a post on X, saying he “didn’t know what I was doing, but I put on a cape. Now it’s, ‘Which world tour should I go on today?’”
The mention of Nicki comes when Shapiro raps, “I make racks of compound interest. Y’all still live with your parents. Nicki, take some notes. I just did this for fun. All my people download this. Let’s get a billboard number one.”
MacDonald is described by Rolling Stone as a “far-right troll rapper” and in the song, the two also take shots at several other artists.
However, his song with Shapiro also reached the number-one spot on the hip-hop/rap chart.
After reaching the top spot, Shapiro took to social media on Friday, joking about having the top spot.
“I just want to thank God, [MacDonald], and my parents, who paid for 15 years of classical violin lessons so I could become the #1 rapper in America,” Shapiro wrote.
The acknowledgment from Minaj comes after she and Shapiro had a heated exchange last June over the song “Pound Town 2,” which Shapiro had reacted to on his show.
