A video circulating online apparently shows fans celebrating at the Kansas City, Mo., Super Bowl parade tackling suspects who carried out a shooting that killed one and injured up to 22. Authorities said they have also heard about the video and that they are investigating.

“I have heard that fans got involved in the apprehension or pursuit of one of the suspects,” said Kansas City Police Chief Stacey Graves. She confirmed that police were still investigating whether one of three individuals in custody was shown in the video.

Graves, Mayor Quinton Lucas and other officials held a short press conference late Wednesday afternoon and another in the early evening after the shooting halted the Chiefs celebration.

The video follows a person running through crowds at the event outside of Kansas City’s Union Station. A group of people follow them and around three spectators tackle the individual and keep them pinned to the ground before police come. The video, which was captured from a distance, then cuts away before the subject can be clearly seen.

“We went out today, like everyone in Kansas City, looking to have a celebration,” said Lucas. “That celebration was marred by a shooting.”

He said that all players and members of the Chiefs were accounted for and safe as of the time of the press conference. Lucas added that the White House also reached out to city officials.

“I’m angry at what happened today,” said Graves. “The people who came to this celebration should expect a safe environment.”

An investigation into the shooting continues. More Audacy coverage is available here.
