Will the current strife among House Republicans over who will replace Kevin McCarthy as Speaker lead to a reluctant bi-partisan coalition between the GOP and House Democrats?
That's certainly a possibility, according to Rep. Mike Turner of Ohio.
Turner told CBS News's "Face the Nation" that while he'd rather Republicans work their issues out amongst themselves, some of the most right-wing hardliners may force more moderate Republicans to reach across the aisle in the interest of getting work done.
"I think Jim Jordan will be an excellent Speaker. I think he'll be able to get to 217 [votes]. If not, we have other leaders in the House," Turner said.
"And certainly, if there is a need if the radical, you know, almost just handful of people in the Republican side, make it unable … to be able to return to general work on the House, then I think obviously, there will be a deal [that] will have to be done," he continued.
If as few as five Republicans vote against Jordan or even abstain from the vote, the door would be open for Democrats to elect Rep. Hakeem Jeffries to the Speakership.
