A restaurant owner in Pennsylvania was arrested for allegedly shooting a 15-year-old boy who tried to steal his tip jar, according to local police.

The Allegheny County Police Department shared that 39-year-old Mohammed Hamdan allegedly shot a teenager several times on Friday night inside Hook Fish Chicken in Stowe Township.

Police received calls from bystanders about shots being fired at around 10 p.m., moments before they received a call from the teen’s mom who said her son was shot multiple times, WTAE reported, citing a police report.

According to police, the teen had entered the restaurant while his brother was waiting outside. He then walked up to the counter, and Hamdan took his order, surveillance footage shows.

The teen can then be seen reaching over the counter and grabbing a plastic jar used for tips, police shared.

While he then turned towards the door, Hamden pulled a handgun from his waistband and allegedly fired at least three shots at the teen, according to police.

The police report says that cameras show the victim running down the sidewalk after fleeing the restaurant.

Hamdan told investigators that the victim and his brother had come into his restaurant earlier in the day, and he “expected them to try to steal from him,” police shared.

“After reviewing surveillance recordings and speaking with witnesses, detectives found no evidence to suggest the male was armed or threatened Hamdan at any time,” Allegheny County police said in a statement.

The teen suffered a gunshot wound to his forearm and another to his right shoulder blade, which caused a bone fracture, according to WTAE’s report.

He was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

It is unclear if he will face charges in connection to the incident.
