
An 18-year-old man was arrested by the Frisco Police this week after allegedly aiding his 17-year-old girlfriend’s death, according to a Facebook post from department.
A press release explained that a body was found in a pond located in Frisco Commons Park.
“After an exhaustive investigation, evidence collected in the case indicated that 18-year-old Zander Tashman of Frisco aided the deceased, his 17-year-old girlfriend,” in dying by suicide. Detectives then obtained a warrant for Tashman’s arrest.
He was taken into custody last Sunday and charged with aiding suicide, a State Jail Felony in Texas. Tashman faces up to two years in prison and a fine up to $10,000. His bond was set at $10,000.
A Zander Tashman was listed on the President’s List at Collin College in Frisco last month.
“To qualify for this distinction, students must take a minimum of 12 credit hours of coursework and maintain a perfect 4.0 grade point average in that coursework,” said the school.
According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, suicide is one of the leading causes of death in the U.S. Death by suicide rates increased by 2.6% from 2021 to 2022.
