President Donald Trump took to social media this weekend to respond to federal workers who were sent an email requesting they document their achievements from the past week.
In his post to Truth Social, Trump posted a “SpongeBob Squarepants” meme, which features the cartoon character looking at a notepad with a list titled “Got Done Last Week.”
On the list are “Cried about Trump,” “Cried about Elon,” “Made it into the office for once,” “Read some emails,” and “Cried about Trump and Elon some more.”
The post from Trump came after Musk demanded that federal employees describe their work efforts in the past week by email or face resignation if they refused.
“Consistent with President @realDonaldTrump’s instructions, all federal employees will shortly receive an email requesting to understand what they got done last week,” Musk wrote on his social platform X on Saturday.
“Failure to respond will be taken as a resignation,” the tech billionaire continued.
The Hill reviewed an email from Musk that was received by federal workers, outlining how to describe their achievements.
“Please reply to this email with approx. 5 bullet points of what you accomplished last week and cc your manager. Please do not send any classified information, links, or attachments,” the email said. “Deadline is Monday at 11:59pmEST.”
Several members of Congress have criticized Musk for his message, including Minnesota Sen. Tina Smith (D), who said it was the “ultimate d‑‑‑ boss move from Musk.”
She continued, saying, “Except he isn’t even the boss, he’s just a d‑‑‑.”
“I bet a lot of people have had an experience like this with a bad boss – there’s an email in your inbox on Saturday night saying, ‘Prove to me your worthiness by Monday or else,’” Smith added in a second post. “I’m on the side of the workers, not the billionaire a‑‑hole bosses.”
Musk responded to Smith, asking what she did last week. She responded, noting that he wasn’t her boss.
“I hate to break it to you, but you aren’t my boss. I answer to the people of Minnesota,” Smith said. “But since you bring it up, I spent last week fighting to stop tax breaks for billionaires like you, paid for by defunding health care for moms and babies.”
