Arlington city leaders want to hear from the community tonight about the proposed new budget that totals more than $672 Million.
The budget for the new fiscal year calls for more than a 7% increase in spending but does include a property tax cut.
Arlington's $672.6 million budget proposal includes money for 40 more firefighters, more fire fighting equiptment, a raise for Arlington police officers and other city workers.
The budget calls for a 6% raise for cops, but police are asking for a 10% hike.
When it comes to taxes, the budget calls for a 1% cut in property taxes, but that could be off set by increases in water and sewage rates.
Tonight's budget town hall meeting is scheduled to take place at 6 p.m. at Arlington city hall.
The city council wil hold a public hearing on the budget on September 5th. A final vote on a spending package will happen on September 12th.
