The Prosper school board will decide today if it will have voters weigh in on a proposed $2.6 billion bond package this fall, which supporters insist the bond is needed.

The Prosper ISD is one of the fastest-growing school districts in the state that attracts more than 3,000 new students each year.

To accommodate the growth the Prosier school board says the bond will provide for the district’s building program for the next five to seven years. That would include building at least 11 new schools and three facilities, including a second 8,000 seat stadium.

They also recommend modernizing or expanding 12 existing schools, and reinforcing safety and security measures.

The bond will be considered by the school board today. If approved it will appear on the November 7th ballot.
