More than 58,000 additional votes cast in Tarrant County Tuesday morning

Through 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, an additional 58,287 people had voted in Tarrant County. Tarrant, Dallas and Collin Counites participate in the Countywide Polling Place Program, which allows people to vote anywhere in the county they are registered on election day.

In early voting, a total of 729,495 people voted in Tarrant County, including in-person and vote-by-mail voters. That accounted for 60.16% of all registered voters in the county.

At Elzie Odom Athletic Center in North Arlington, the wait to vote was estimated at more than 60 minutes Tuesday morning.

"Besides the line, everything seems to be going pretty good," one man said.

By noon, the wait time had dropped to less than 30 minutes. Some voters waiting said the presidential election has drawn the most attention, but several Arlington city council seats are up for election, and Tarrant County Sheriff Bill Waybourn is running for reelection.

"We need to really look more at what's going on at the bottom [of the ballot] as well," another voter said. "That's our inner-city. That's what really matters."

From 7-8 a.m. Tuesday, Tarrant County reported 12,288 voters. Each following hour had fewer voters, with 6,930 between noon and 1 p.m.
