Reaction is pouring in following the so-called Big Beautiful bill's passage in the House.

Former Congressman Colin Allred who is running in the democratic primary for U.S. Senate says the bill will raise costs on hardworking Texans and noted it was a bill both of his possible republican counterparts, John Cornyn and Ken Paxton, supported.

"Let's be very clear: this bill will make life more expensive for Texans," Allred said in a statement. "It's going to kick more than 1-million Texans off their health care. It's going to raise health care premiums."

Congressman Brandon Gill (R-TX) hailed the legislation.

"This One Big Beautiful Bill implements everything that Americans voted for at the ballot box in November," Gill said. "It secures our border, funds the largest mass deportation operation in American history, and delivers the tax relief working families deserve."

Congresswoman Julie Johnson (D-TX) has fought for months against proposals to cut costs to Medicaid. She voted against the measure.

"This budget is a direct attack on the people I represent," Johnson said. "I voted no because the Republican budget guts health care, slashes food assistance, and undercuts economic opportunity in North Texas."

The bill passed Thursday ahead of the July 4th deadline requested by the Trump Administration.
