One person was killed and eight others were injured early Sunday in a shooting outside a downtown Amarillo nightclub, police say.

The incident occurred around 2 a.m. outside Bodega’s nightclub, when a person exited a car armed with a rifle and opened fire into a crowd, police said.

John Love Louima, 25, died at a hospital from multiple gunshot wounds, according to KVII-TV. Eight others were wounded and remain hospitalized. Their conditions were not immediately available.

Following a tip from a witness, police located the suspect’s vehicle and arrested three people. Robert Kenney Knox, 23, and Nahryah Hilesta Ines Hayes, 21, both of Amarillo, were charged with murder. A third person in the vehicle was charged with public intoxication, officials said.

The investigation is ongoing, and police have not released a motive for the attack.
