UPDATED: According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a semitrailer drove into the Brenham DPS Office causing multiple injuries on Friday morning.

The 42-year-old driver had stolen the commercial vehicle earlier in the day. They were being chased by a deputy and took a hard right turn, straight into the DPS building. It was intentional, officials say.

After investigation, it is said that the driver had been denied a license and was not eligible to renew a commercial license. They are under custody.

After a press conference, it was confirmed that six people were injured and one is dead. Three of the injured, were in critical condition and the three others were in serious condition. All of them are recovering at the nearest hospital.

Multiple news outlets showed photos and videos of a red tractor-trailer hauling material on a flatbed in the parking lot of Brenham's DPS building.

Multiple investigation agencies are on the case. This includes the FBI, the Texas Rangers, and others.

Officials say this is still a very active and ongoing investigation, but there are no threats. TxDPS still urges people to avoid the area.

This is a developing story. Come back for more updates.
