State agencies are preparing for the possibility of damage or injuries from the weather system that's moving through Texas Wednesday.

North Texas and East Texas are getting rain today and Central Texas could get storms tonight and Thursday. Governor Greg Abbott has directed the Texas Division of Emergency Management to activate state emergency response resources.

"Texans are urged to remain weather-aware and heed the guidance of state and local officials and emergency response personnel to protect themselves, their loved ones, and their property safe from these storms.” said Governor Abbott.

Two search and rescue teams and swift-water rescue crews are on standby. More than a dozen state agencies have sent staffers to the State Operations Center in Austin to monitor conditions, including the DPS, Texas Department of Insurance and the Public Utility Commission.
