Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) has requested over $11 billion in federal reimbursements for border security expenses incurred under Operation Lone Star.

In letters sent to U.S. congressional leaders, Abbott criticized the Biden administration's border policies, claiming they left Texas "defenseless" and forced the state to spend billions on border security.

Abbott highlighted that Texas spent $3 billion on constructing 100 miles of border wall and deploying floating buoys in the Rio Grande, and nearly $6 billion on National Guard and Department of Public Safety personnel.

He emphasized that the federal government should cover these costs, as Texas has taken on the burden of securing the border due to the federal government's inaction.
