There's a strange twist in the case of a Houston man missing for eight years since he was a teenager.
Over the weekend, it was reported that Rudy Farias had been found safe. Farias' mother told reporters that someone called 9-1-1 after finding him unresponsive outside a church. She claimed he had cuts and bruises all over his body and blood in his hair.
But now, the mother's neighbors who never knew Farias was reported missing said he had been living with his mom the whole time.
A community member named Quannel X met with reporters claiming he and Farias had an hour-long conversation with a police detective during which Farias described what Quannel calls "horrific things."
He went on to declare "no child should ever be treated like that by your own mother."
He quotes Farias saying that when he ran away in 2015, he returned two days later only to hear his mother say must remain in hiding because the police "were going to arrest him for running away."
Houston police spoke with Farias and his family Wednesday and said they would release more details soon.
