New U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins returned to Texas this week to discuss the Trump Administration's plans for the department.
Rollins, who led the Texas Public Policy Foundation for 15 years before joining the first Trump administration, spoke at the foundation’s summit in Austin.
While she did not provide specific details on agriculture policy, Rollins emphasized the importance of agriculture to the nation’s founders and its role in the American way of life.
During her confirmation hearing, Rollins said President Donald Trump understands the potential impact of deportations and tariffs on the agriculture industry. She pledged to work with the Department of Labor to ensure farms remain operational, suggesting that reforms to temporary worker visas could help address labor shortages.
