An appeals court ruling is now preventing Federal government officials from removing the razor wire Texas installed along the border with Mexico.
The barrier was installed by the Texas National Guard as part of Operation Lone Star.
Agents with U.S. Customs and Border Protection started cutting through the fencing that had been placed on private land with the property owner's permission. Texas sued, but a district judge originally allowed the feds to keep cutting the wire.
The 5th Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans has ordered the federal government to stop while the case makes its way through the court system.
The case is focused on the state's right to sue the federal government on this issue.
