March is Endometriosis Awareness Month. Endometriosis is when the type of tissue that forms the uterus lining is found outside the uterus.

It is one of the most common gynecological diseases, and its primary symptoms include pain and infertility.

It affects one in ten women of reproductive age in the United States, according to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG). However, many women go undiagnosed for years because of the broad range of symptoms, and limited awareness of the disease.

On Ask the Expert, OB/GYN Dr. Aurora Lopez with Texas Health joined the KRLD Afternoon News to talk about treatments and awareness for the disease.
