With Houston native and Baylor basketball great Brittney Griner still locked up in Russia, her wife is going public with her statement for the first time.
Although the information just came out over the weekend, apparently Griner was arrested in Moscow some time in February.
According to Russian security services, they found vape cartridges with Hashish oil residue in her luggage as she was coming through one of the four airports that serve Moscoe.
Griner, a former superstar at Baylor University and now a center for the WNBA franchise in Phoenix has been playing winter basketball in Moscow for seven years.
Yesterday, Griner's wife Cherelle posted on her Instagram account, saying "Your prayers and support are greatly appreciated. This message comes during one of the weakest moments of my life. I understand that many of you have grown to love BG over the years and have concerns and want details. Please honor our privacy."
Many of Griner's fans fear she is being held as a hostage during the current international crisis over Russia's atrocities against the Ukrainians.
