This week Texas native Beyonce Knowles (aka Beyonce) launched her latest business venture, a hair care line called CÉCRED.
Along with the new product line, the music superstar announced a scholarship she's awarding to cosmetology students.
"Fostering talent, promoting professionalism, and supporting entrepreneurship within the hair industry is deeply important to us," says Knowles on her BeyGOOD website. "That's why we're partnering with Cécred to create the Cécred x BeyGOOD Fund, which celebrates the influence professional stylists have on hair health and the critical importance of advocating for the salon community."
$500,000 has been donated to an annual fund for scholarships and grants in 5 cities known for their diverse community of hair stylists, including Houston, Atlanta, Chicago, Los Angeles, and New Jersey.
Knowles BeyGOOD Fund will award 25 financial aid scholarships of $10,000 each year.
"Hairstylists have an immense impact on the people in their chairs. They create a sacred space where we can show up how we want and express ourselves through our hair. We’re honored to give back to this amazing community" said Knowles on her website.
Applications open today and close on March 20th. Students can apply at Beygood.org.
