A luxury Boeing 747 donated by Qatar to former President Donald Trump is now being converted in Waco into what’s described as a “temporary Air Force One.”
The aircraft first arrived in Texas earlier this year, landing at Alliance Airport in Fort Worth before being ferried to Waco in August for modification.
The retrofit work is being done at L3Harris Technologies — one of the few U.S. facilities capable of handling a wide-body jet of that size.
The company’s secure hangars at Waco Regional Airport are often used for major military and government aircraft projects.
Aviation experts say the location was selected for its technical capacity, security, and ample space to accommodate the extensive modifications needed to prepare the jet for potential presidential transport.
The project marks one of the most high-profile aircraft conversions in Texas in recent years.
