A business partner of the husband of missing and presumed dead San Antonio woman Suzanne Clark Simpson has been indicted on charges related to the ongoing investigation into her disappearance, authorities said.

James Cotter was indicted by a Bexar County grand jury for possession of prohibited weapons and tampering with evidence. Prosecutors allege Cotter hid an illegally modified AK-47 rifle belonging to Brad Simpson at his home. The weapon had been converted into a machine gun, according to court documents.

As a condition of a bond reduction, Cotter is prohibited from possessing any weapons and from contacting Brad Simpson, who is facing murder and other charges. Brad Simpson has a court hearing scheduled Tuesday for a bond modification request.

Suzanne Clark Simpson was reported missing earlier this year, and authorities believe she is deceased, though her body has not been found. The investigation remains ongoing.
