U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) is praising President Donald Trump’s decision to pause most tariffs for 90 days, calling the move a positive step for American consumers and businesses.

Cruz, who had previously criticized the tariffs as a tax hike on Americans, said he was pleased by the temporary halt. The Texas Republican called the decision "terrific," noting he had encouraged Trump to shift focus toward China, where Trump raised the tariff to 125%.

The decision is also drawing support from the Texas business community. Glen Hamer, president of the Texas Association of Business, called the pause both smart and needed.

The 90-day pause is expected to ease tensions as trade negotiations continue.
