One day after Sunday's scathing report on law enforcement blundering at the Uvalde school shooting the DPS has announced it will investigate its own troopers' actions that day.
Nearly 100 DPS troopers and Texas Rangers were on-scene at Robb Elementary.
The Texas House committee report was not kind to the DPS officers. The report said stead of following the accepted doctrine that officers immediately confront a shooter, police at Robb Elementary retreated after coming under fire and then waited for backup.
A DPS spokesman says the Texas Rangers already had a criminal investigation underway and indicates the new internal committee's work is in addition to that existing inquiry.
