A Mineola man is facing multiple felony charges after allegedly forcing a driver to dig a grave for his dog at gunpoint.

Investigators say 22-year-old Alberto Joshua Hernandez confronted a man who accidentally struck and killed his dog along a Wood County road.

According to court documents, Hernandez forced the driver to carry the dog’s body to his property, dig a grave, and bury it while armed with a gun. He then allegedly made the victim drive to an ATM and withdraw $200 before letting him go.

Hernandez was arrested days later and charged with aggravated robbery, aggravated kidnapping, and multiple drug offenses. He remains in the Wood County Jail on bonds totaling $660,000.

The victim told investigators he was “scared to death” during the ordeal but was not physically hurt. The case remains under investigation by the Wood County Sheriff’s Office.
