North Texas hit triple digits for the first time this year at DFW Airport on Sunday. The mercury topped out at 101 between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. That is certainly hot but it's going to get hotter this week.

We'll be hotter each day Monday and Tuesday and then Wednesday the forecast calls for a high of 108. Our highs will be 100 or hotter every day through Saturday with a brief respite on Sunday when the high is expected to top out at 96. Right now we are under a Heat Advisory through 8 p.m. Monday but it will likely be extended.

ERCOT says all is great with the Texas power grid. Monday morning at 6 a.m. the ERCOT Dashboard showed operating reserves of more than 9,000 Megawatts, plenty for current demand.

Even during today's peak heating between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. ERCOT expects at least 5,000 to 6,000 Megawatts of excess capacity beyond state-wide demand.
