Resources from Texas are headed west to New Mexico to help battle wildfires.

New Mexico's Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management sent out a request for help as they battle the Rio Grande Fire and the Trout Fire that are impacting the state.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott is sending emergency management personnel to respond to needs involving logistics, planning, and response operations.

"Texas stands ready to answer the call for help when disaster strikes - whether it's here in Texas or across the country," Governor Abbott said in a statement. "Today, I deployed emergency management personnel needed to help safeguard New Mexico residents and their property."

This is a part of the Emergency Management Assistance Compact which is a state-to-state mutual aid response to disasters or emergencies.
