
Compassion, humanity and decency - that’s what many of the Hispanic civil rights groups gathered in Houston Friday are calling for from state and federal officials when carrying out the mass deportations.
President Trump’s plan to deport immigrants to a detention camp in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba has been met with anguish.
LULAC Houston President Dr. Sergio Lira says, "The idea of sending 30,000 to Guantanamo Bay is barbaric, is cruel. It was created for known terrorists."
Ivan Sanchez of Texas Millenials said the Trump administration has created a crisis where he has blurred the lines between an undocumented immigrant and a hardcore criminal.
"It's not only morally reprehensible but also a violation of our principles of justice and dignity," says Sanchez.
While, Linda Morales of the Gulf Area Labor Federation says people seeking refuge are being treated like criminals.
