Don't forget about your pets in this cold weather!
It is unseasonably cold all over Texas and some folks forget about Fido. San Antonio Animal Care Services has been handing out citations like hotcakes—47 in just two days.
With more than 330 weather-related calls there since December, it seems some pet owners are forgetting that animals don’t vibe with freezing temps.
The SPCA has some tips to help keep your furry family safe during this winter snap- remember if it's too cold for you- it's probably too cold for them. Pets can freeze and become disoriented or lost if you leave them outside.
Don't leave them in the car when it's hot or cold because your car is like a fridge with wheels when it's turned off. Remember their little paws might need booties. Check for cracks or redness on their paws and treat them with something like petroleum jelly, and maybe give booties.
They burn more energy during winter so they might need a little more chow and plenty of water.
Bottom line: Winter isn’t over - so do your furry friends a favor and bring them inside.
