Hiker dies on trail at Big Bend National Park

A hiker died on a trail at Big Bend National Park in Southwest Texas on Monday.

Rangers were called to the Hot Springs Canyon Trail on Monday afternoon for a 53-year-old woman in distress. They tried CPR and other life-saving measures but were not successful.

The Park Service said the woman was hiking the area for the first time.

Rangers are warning that daily temps are beginning to exceed 100 degrees. They're asking visitors to bring lots of water and plan to be off trails by noon.
