Kids and their families are getting used to their new school schedules, and that includes meal-prepping breakfasts and lunches.

The School Nutrition Association says "Having access to free (and even reduced lunch) for one child can cut the risk of food insecurity for that household by 14% and reduce poor health rates by 29%."

On today's Ask the Expert, Dr. Barbara Kessel, Supervising Psychiatrist at Equip, joined the KRLD Afternoon news to talk about the importance of free meals for kids at school and how it can prevent not only food insecurity but also a poor relationship with food which can lead to food disorders.

Equip is a leading virtual eating disorder treatment company.
