The Texas Longhorns are facing several games without their top quarterback Southlake Carroll product Quinn Ewers who was injured in the Alabama game on Saturday.

Reports say it looks like he'll be out several weeks and may not return until October 8th for the annual Red River Showdown against the University of Oklahoma at the Cotton Bowl in Fair Park.

Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian appeared on last night's KRLD Longhorns Weekly show and was asked about Ewers' similarity to NFL quarterbacks.

Sarkisian mentioned Aaron Rodgers and Patrick Mahomes and their mobility and skill at throwing on the run with pinpoint accuracy.

Sarkisian acknowledged the challenge of replacing someone with that kind of skill set. But the Longhorns will try Saturday night when they host UT San Antonio at Royal-Memorial Stadium in Austin.

1080 KRLD is the DFW home of Texas Longhorns football. The Longhorns pregame show begins at 6 p.m. followed by kickoff at 7:00 p.m.
