Four Texas Tech University police officers who shot and killed an armed suspect near the school’s football stadium have been cleared of any wrongdoing, Lubbock Police announced Wednesday.

The incident occurred when the officers responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle near the stadium. Upon arrival, the suspect, identified as Rhino Simboli, pointed a gun at the officers and opened fire, according to investigators. The officers returned fire, killing Simboli.

Lubbock police conducted an investigation into the shooting and concluded the officers' use of deadly force was justified. The findings were submitted to the Lubbock County District Attorney’s Office, which agreed with the determination.

As a result, the officers involved will be allowed to return to duty.
